Today the Eden Park Redevelopment Board contacted me to arrange a meeting to discuss the new stadium plans, so the committee members will be meeting with them tomorrow morning. In the meantime however, the press have been hounding myself for comments and even forwarded the following press statement (no idea if there is an embargo on this information).
I never want to mis-quote the feeling of the membership/neighbours when discussing these matters with the press, so please send me your comments. One comment I received was:-
"It's really great to see the central government get involved and commit the funds to get this project going. We can finally start to feel confident that the world cup will be going ahead and New Zealand won't lose the rights to host the tournament to another country. All the improvements to the appearance and facilities are going to make Eden Park an even better neighbour. It's a pity that some of the seating will be temporary, and that the final design for both inside and outside the ground won't quite match the original plans, but international visitors should still leave the country impressed by their experience of New Zealand."
I'm hoping to get some images of the new design, so please check the website homepage as they will be there as soon as I get them.
In case you didn't receive the letter from the council regarding resident parking please click here to see their update on this matter.
As soon as I hear more I'll let you know.
